You Think iPad is Awesome? Check out this video…
Firstly, we have nothing against iPad, we think it is an awesome product.
After watching this Video by Microsoft, we feel that the advancement of technology(e.g. iPad) is bringing us nearer to the future as portrayed in this video.
We love the phone application…

I’m a huge Microsoft Fanboy – owned everything from Windows 2.0 all the way until the new Kinect and Windows Phone 7 devices. But this kind of video is a big reason why they’ve been losing mindshare to Google and Apple.
They’ve been putting out these videos for the longest time, I remember seeing the first classroom video exactly like this in the early 90s when Bill Gates’s “The Road Ahead” book came with a free CD-ROM. Back then, it was a vision of the interconnected world, global classrooms, surface PCs in people’s kitchen and much of the stuff that’s possible today, but not widespread.
On the other hand, Apple’s videos only focus on what they’ve made possible TODAY, not 10 yrs from today. And to today’s consumers that seems much more genuine – because they can go feel those changes right now.
I think they had a decent hybrid strategy when they launched the Project Natal videos – they were a vision for the near future (18-24 months), and closely associated with a product. But this kind of global awesome computing visions, I think ultimately hurt MS more than they love.
I’d love to see more 1-3 yr vision videos which are product foussed … how is MS going to change monitors? gaming? the internet? office software? …. stuff they can tempt, and then deliver. Then maybe, they’ll get their market cap leadership on Apple back
